This is an ideal career for creative thinkers. As a baker, you make many different types of breads using a range of ingredients for flavour and taste. Bakers also make cakes, pastries and a range of savoury foods and specialise as a pastrycook.

Environment and Culture of the workplace

While being a baker does not include too much heavy lifting, you will still be required to lift trays out of ovens etc. A full-time job as a baker generally involves working late at nights or extremely early mornings (some bakers start at 3.00am).

Conditions within a bakery will always be humid due to the ovens producing a large amount of heat. This can prove to be difficult at times during summer.
