This is an ideal career for intuitive thinkers. As an executive assistant, your job is to provide advanced administrative support and to reduce the workload for a high level executive such as the CEO or a senior executive director in a business or organisation.

Leading Companies & Markets

As an executive assistant, you will be able to find work in a broad range of markets and organizations. Larger to mid sized organizations tend to employ more EA’s, though any company or organisation that has senior executives or a board of directors is likely to require your services. The range of possible industries for employment vary from education and health care, to scientific and government, to manufacturing and construction.

Environment & Culture

For the most part, executive assistants are based in offices, work longer hours than most from 8.00am to 6.00pm each day. Often your hours mirror those of your executive, and working back to complete projects they needed by the next day is common. The better you manage your executive, the less frequent the need to work back. You may be expected to leave the office to attend or accompany your executive to meetings or interstate trips.

Your job will involve sitting for long periods, often using a computer, but you are likely to have the best equipment available. In a large corporation your surrounds are professional, polished and even opulent. There is the chance of eye strain, repetitive stress injuries and your work days will be busy and stressful. It is your job to ensure the smooth execution of work and communication throughout the organisation.
