Qualifications and leading Universities
For smaller establishments you can get away with not having formal qualifications. However as the scale and complexity of the hotel grows the more likely formal qualifications become mandatory.
TAFE offer Diploma and Associate Diploma courses in Hospitality Management and specialist colleges offer relevant courses as well.
As the hospitality industry has grown so to have degree courses at universities. Related degrees to undertake include a Bachelor of Business with majors in hospitality and management, Bachelor of International Hotel and Tourism Management and Associate Degree of Hotel Management or Resort Management.
You can study courses relevant to Hotel Management at the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School, Le Cordon Bleu Australia in Sydney and The Hotel School Sydney. Universities that offer hospitality qualifications are: University of Queensland and Griffith University in Queensland; Southern Cross University in New South Wales; Victoria University; and Edith Cowan University in Western Australia.
