Career Path Options and Employment

The job of a hotel manager is broad and varied, often giving enough diversity to hold interest for an entire career. To start out, many begin at the reception desk, or as a member of the wait or cleaning staff, and work their way up.

A graduate can expect to start as an assistant manager and be a member of a managerial team. In time and with experience you can move on to a position as head hotel manager.

The competencies and skills you need in hotel management are fully transferrable to most business management positions or project management. You may choose to shift your career from hotel management to event management, leisure centre management, or to marketing departments.
