Qualifications & Leading Universities
If you are interested in becoming an interior designer, you will be required to have appropriate qualifications and training. Useful degrees to undertake include a Bachelor of Interior Design, Bachelor of Design, Bachelor of Creative Industries, or even a Bachelor of Business, successfully completing majors in Interior Design.
To gain entry to a Bachelor of Design or similar undergraduate course, you will need an entrance score of 75+. Universities offering appropriate courses include Griffith University, Queensland University of Technology, and the University of Technology, Sydney.
Also look into these universities for the relevant degree or major: Canberra University, Charles Sturt University, Edith Cowan University, Raffles College of Design and Commerce and Whitehouse Institute of Design (Sydney), RMIT and Swinburne University of Technology,.
To gain entrance into some of these courses, you may be required to have an Advanced Diploma in Interior Design, Interior Technology or its equivalent. A Diploma or Advanced Diploma is offered by numerous colleges and TAFE.
