Career Path Options & Employment
The reason most people become interpreters is because they are already bilingual.
Knowing another language really well, may lead to advancement in some environments, but does not really lead to other career paths. Most interpreters work as a small business operator.
As such, when approached for work in languages they do not cover, they naturally change into interpreting agencies.
