This is an ideal career for a logical thinker. As a motor mechanic you perform service and repairs on mechanical parts of vehicle types.

Environment and Culture the Workplace

Mechanics will generally work standard hours throughout the week, but occasionally will work weekends or late to satisfy customer needs. Generally working indoors in a garage or workshop, the area will be well lit and ventilated. Although many times these work conditions will be draughty and noisy.

You will be working with greasy and dirty parts, and in often awkward positions. Occasionally you will lift heavy parts for replacement. Minor cuts, burns and bruises are common, with serious accidents being avoided by keeping the workplace clean and tidy.
