Career Path Options and Employment Opportunities

Once you have gained employment, you may have the opportunity to develop and have recognised, additional skills under Civil Construction or Transport and Logistics Training Packages that can possibly expand your career opportunities. The larger employers will include contractors on earthmoving or civil construction, private developers, mining companies, or government authorities. Locations for work will vary in size and length of time you work there.

Your work locations can range from the city to country, and are at times in remote locations often associated with infrastructure development and big mining/resource companies. Different operating licences are required for the mining and crane operation. Each machine has its own specialised functions and operating procedures.

As an owner/operator it is possible to work for yourself, contracting out to companies on a hire basis. While this will give you the ability to earn a substantial income, the cost of purchasing your own equipment is extremely high and high levels of utilisation are needed to cover the repayment costs or loan premiums.
