Career Path Options and Employment opportunities
As a qualified painter and decorator you can continue to work for one employer; you can find employment with contracting firms that offer painting and decorating services; or you may also choose to establish your own business, for which you will have to advertise and find your own jobs. You may choose to specialise in one market sector such as commercial buildings, residential buildings or industrial buildings. There is also the possibility to work for local councils, government agencies, or housing companies.
With further experience you can enter into the field of technical teaching or take advantage of opportunities in sales and marketing, working for the manufacturers of painting products. Many of those employed within these wholesale companies have backgrounds in painting and decorating.
