Education Qualifications
Given the high standing of pharmacy as a profession, gaining a place in a Bachelor of Pharmacy university programme is not easy. Potential students are required to have high scores in the Undergraduate Medicine & Health Science Admission Test (UMAT), with leading universities requiring entry scores in the 90’s. Pharmacy courses are offered in universities throughout Australia including Monash University, La Trobe University, Sydney University, John Curtin University and Queensland University.
Following four years of university studies, a graduate pharmacist is required to complete a nominal number of hours as an intern, under the supervision of a registered pharmacist, before becoming fully registered in the relevant state or territory.
