Education Qualifications
To become a plumber you will need to complete a four-year apprenticeship. Generally an employer will require you have at least a Year 10 pass with mathematics, English and Science.
As an apprentice plumber you will receive training both on and off the job. Your off-the-job training is usually done through a registered training organisation, such as TAFE. You may be able to begin some of your training while you are still at school through a VET (Vocational Education Training) programme.
A Plumbing pre-vocational course (Pre–App) will also assist you to gain valuable knowledge prior to commencing an apprenticeship. Your apprenticeship training provide you with industry-recognised qualifications as well as some practical skills that may enhance your chances for employment.
