This is an ideal career for analytical thinkers. It’s a Production Manager’s job to plan, direct, coordinate and control an industrial process. You determine the necessary labour resources; monitor the production schedule and cost; ensure production achieves efficiency, quality, and quantity; and manage the receipt of materials and the shipping of final goods.

Leading Companies & Markets

As a Production Manager, your main area of employment is with manufacturing and production companies. Whether they deal in high-tech entertainment systems, white goods, fast moving consumer goods, furniture or motor vehicles, a Production Manager is required to ensure a smooth process during production.

Environment & Culture

You will spend a considerable amount of your work time on the production floor of the company, supervising staff members and overseeing the production process. You will also spend time in an office, writing plans and production reports, and communicating with other departments, suppliers and company clients.

A full-time week is standard for a Production Manager, although you may be expected to work overtime to meet deadlines and attend training and update courses. The environment can be noisy and hectic, and you could easily find yourself exhausted at the end of a work day.
